VHCT2 Committees

Veterinary Health Care Team of Connecticut
Committee Descriptions

Communications Committee
Our website, www.vhct2.org, is the cornerstone of our communications. Features include continuing education listings, classified and employment ads, an activities calendar and links to pertinent services. The Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association also has donated space in its Quarterly newsletter for a regular feature about VHCT2 and we have our own VHCT2 quarterly newsletter as well. If you have a topic of interest, we would love to hear from you. To join our Communications Committee, please contact Erika Norbut at enorbut@vhct2.org.

Connecticut State Animal Response Team (SART)
VHCT2 supports the efforts of CTSART to protect our pets and livestock in emergency situations.  Several of our members currently are working on completing FEMA training to become SART certified. We have been privileged to participate in a mobile shelter deployment drill and to help spread the message of preparedness. We look forward to further opportunities to be of service. Please contact Carrie Tarca at ctarca@vhct2.org.

Community Outreach Committee
VHCT2 has a strong emphasis on community service.  Our Community Outreach Committee and Board members have participated in a number of events over the last year. We feel that reaching out to the community and educating people about animals and their needs is very important. We believe that these efforts will be rewarded in the long run by demonstrating the role and importance of veterinary medicine. We invite our members to join in these efforts and spread the word in their own communities. Please contact Heather Hwalek at hhwalek@vhct2.org.

Meeting & Continuing Education Committee
The Meeting & Continuing Education Committee has been hard at work planning a number of meetings and mini-seminars for the coming year. We hosted several successful meetings, including “Parasites and Zoonoses” and “Communications.” We have hosted mini-seminars on “Acupuncture and Alternative Medicine,” “Pain Management,” and “Anesthesia,” and “Behavior/Training.” To fulfill our educational commitments to you, we would greatly appreciate further input, and encourage you to contact us with your ideas and/or join the Meeting & Continuing Education Committee. Please contact Denise Champagne at dchampagne@vhct2.org.

Membership Committee
The purpose of the Membership Committee is to recruit new members, assist with member renewals and to ensure that current membership receive the basic membership services. Please contact Heather Hwalek at hhwalek@vhct2.org to join.
